My Story
I was six years old when my family relocated to Memphis. We quickly joined Bellevue Baptist where I met the Lord on a Sunday morning in fourth grade. It was a simple response to a gospel message but it was clearly the starting point for my walk with Christ. Thankfully, I was surrounded by a family that loved the Lord who encouraged me to pursue my faith and get active in the church. Shortly after, we joined Germantown Baptist where I stayed until the end of high school.
Throughout middle and early high school I wrestled with a season of extreme doubt which led me to question my faith in God. By his grace this doubt led me to chase down my beliefs rather than run from them. Through study of God’s word and a discipling relationship I learned that my doubt was not caused by an insincere faith. It was because I was isolated in my pursuit of God. Thankfully I made some incredibly formative friendships in this season that changed my life and deepened my walk with God. At GBC I was also introduced to music ministry which became an immense and unexpected passion in my life.
In 2012 I moved to Jackson, TN to attend Union University. I studied accounting, served at Englewood Baptist Church in the music and student ministry, and traveled regionally with a worship band on the weekends and throughout the summers. Most importantly I met Haley, my wife, who is easily the best thing that ever happened to me. After graduating college Haley and I got married and moved to Memphis where I took a job in accounting. We quickly realized we had a deep need for community which led us to Harvest where God provided transformational friendship by way of our Discipleship Community group. By having a stable, authentic community around us, Haley and I began to feel at home in Memphis.
After working eight years in corporate accounting I realized I had a lack of fulfillment that I couldn’t shake. So after a year or two of exploring this I realized God was taking my path in a new direction. It turned out that my ‘passion’ for music ministry was actually more of a ‘calling.’ So after years of wrestling with the Lord, Haley and I decided to take a leap of faith and venture into this new world of ministry together (with our two kids, Julia and Owen, right behind us).
My Hope For Harvest
My hope for Harvest is that we would experience the fullness of joy, peace, and fulfillment that only comes from God by abiding in His word, living in authentic community, and worshiping in spirit and truth.
