Family Ministries Pastor

My Story

I was born in Napa Valley, California and spent my younger years in Wichita, Kansas.  When my family moved to Germantown, we started attending a neighborhood church.  On my first day in Student Ministry Bible Study, the Student Pastor was teaching about two men.  Both men were building a house—one on a foundation of sand and the other on a foundation of rock.  We were asked to look within and determine where we were building the house of our lives.  It didn’t take long for me to realize the change I needed.  I spent the rest of my junior high and high school years being discipled by my Student Pastor.

I graduated from Houston High School in 2007 and attended the University of Kansas, where I received undergraduate degrees in economics and history.  Under the guidance of my old Student Pastor, I took a summer internship serving in Student Ministry.  God used that summer to call me into the ministry.  I believe in Student Ministry done well because I am a product of Student Ministry done well.

After completing my coursework in 2011, I moved to Houston, TX to serve as the High School Pastor at Second Baptist Church.  I met my wife, Jenn, in Houston and we were married in April of 2014.  In November of 2016, Jenn and I welcomed our first child, James Thomas.  As a family, we have a passion for partnering with parents and ministering to students.  Our desire is to faithfully pass on the Word of God to teenagers, so that it may grow strong in the hearts of His people.  We enjoy spending time with our yellow lab, Bentley Jane, and cheering on the Jayhawks.  Rock Chalk!

My Hope For Harvest

My hope is that we would be a church that truly loves families; that we would be a place of community, where Christians gather together and spur one another on towards love; and that many students would hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and leave forever changed.
